Lame Duck Session To Consider Comprehensive Immigration Reform

Wednesday in the Senate Senators Menendez (D-NJ) and Leahy (D-VT) introduced introduced S.B. 3932, The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Act of 2010. After the DREAM Act was recently squashed once again by Congress’ failure to pass the Defense Authorization Act CIR is once again back on the table for consideration.  The Menendez/Leahy bill focuses on many initiatives that have broad bi-partisan support and are widely agreed by economists to be helpful for the American economy and American Workers.  As unfortunate public sentiment can often derail the best intentioned legislation a lame duck session where members are less beholden to public opinion may be the best place to get this important legislation passed.  For a summary of the legislation see the link below.
