EB-5 Program Growing

Each year more and more investors are applying for U.S. Permanent Residency through the EB-5 program. Yet the program is still a long way off from reaching the 10,000 per year cap.

According to USCIS (U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services), in fiscal 2010 1,727 people applied for a green card under the EB-5 investor program and 1,271 were approved. This is an increase from 2009 when only 1,028 people applied for EB5 status and 966 were approved, and an even greater increase from 2007 when 776 individuals applied and 485 were approved.

Look for this trend to continue as more investors see the EB-5 green card as the easiest route to U.S. permanent residency. Especially as USCIS has recently increased the scrutiny and fees associated with E Visas and L-1a intra-company transfer visas.

There are also many more approved Regional Centers which provide more options for investors, catering to both conservative and aggressive investors.
