The 2011 annual American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) conference began today in San Diego, California. The annual conference moves around to different cities every year. Last year’s conference was in Washington D.C, and the previous year’s in Las Vegas.
The conference includes some of the country’s best immigration attorneys speaking on almost every topic imaginable relating to immigration law. Topics include family based immigration, employment based immigration, investment based immigration (including eb-5 million dollar green cards and E-2 investor visas), deportation, federal court litigation, and even out bound immigration to other countries.
Besides having the opportunity to learn from the best immigration lawyers at the conference, there are also representatives from the various influential government agencies including USCIS, ICE, and the Department of Labor present. Experienced immigration lawyers have the chance to hear what the agencies are looking for in petitions and also ask questions.
Of course like almost any conference there are also a variety of vendors trying to sell different services, such as business plans, immigration software, immigration books, along with numerous regional centers trying to promote their EB-5 projects to the immigration attorneys.
Our San Diego law firm is really excited to be the host city for this conference, and we relish the chance to learn, network, and mingle with our immigration peers.
