Julian and Julio Mora recently settled their lawsuit vs. the Maricopa Sheriff’s office for $200,000. Julian is a lawful permanent resident and his son Julian is a U.S. Citizen. In 2009 the pair was stopped without justification, ordered out of their truck, zip-tied and transported to a nearby immigration raid at a worksite. They were detained for 3 hours before given the chance to prove they were lawfully in the United States. In April a federal district court judge ruled that the Maricopa Sheriff’s office violated the Fourth Amendment in stopping and arresting the Moras without cause.
