USCIS just updated the H1B count. As of April 15, 2010, approximately 13,600 (out of 65,000 available) H-1B cap-subject petitions had been filed. USCIS has received 5,800 H-1B petitions for aliens with advanced degrees. These numbers are way down from previous years, which is good news for employers who wish to hire foreign workers, as they will continue to have the H-1B visa as an option. Unfortunately, this also indicates the tough economic times of our country. Back in 2007 and 2008 over 100,000 petitions were received the first week.
