Thanks to Senators Richard Durbin (D-IL), Harry Reid (D-NV) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ), the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act, or “DREAM Act” was re-introduced week. Last time the bill passed the House of Representatives, but could not get through in the Senate.
This action follows President Obama’s speech in El Paso where he mentioned that “we should stop punishing innocent young people for the actions of their parents. We should stop denying them the chance to earn an education or serve in the military. And that’s why we need to pass the DREAM Act.”
Hopefully Congress will listen and the bill will meet with a more favorable outcome. Here is more information on the DREAM Act.
